Bad Manager...

...but the owners and G.M. are worse.

Wedgie hits the road on the last home game of the season. In keeping with the fire sale and poor P.R. mentality of the rest of the season, the announcement of his firing comes on "Fan Appreciation Day". Perfect.

Plus it's 55 degrees here, they're having to play a makeup doubleheader from yesterday's washout and it's still raining.

A better metaphor couldn't be scripted for the zeitgeist of the Indians organization.

We really know how to suck. Go Cavs.

Found this site out on the innertubes the other day. Pretty cool.

Todd Snider

I lifted this from over at Woody's joint. Clever and funny.

BTW, Todd Snider has a song on his latest Yep Roc release that tell the now infamous tale of the late, great Dock Ellis who, as was the stuff of '70's baseball legend, threw a no-hitter in the first half of a double header after having ingested a righteous dose of LSD.

I once saw Dock pitch in Pittsburgh with my dad and grandfather. I remember seeing Dock's pink El Dorado parked on the sidewalk outside the players entrance.

Makes one kinda miss the seventies, eh?

Thoughts?...

Can someone/anyone help me understand why the Right is so opposed to HSR as a travel option when it could prove so lucrative to so many large corporations?

You could make the blanket assessment that nearly all "green" industry investments are suffering from the same policy led dementia on the part of the Right wing. If they're so friggin interested in a free market economy, why the heck are they so opposed to everything that has the taint of "green" on it?

I mean, so what if the company or the products that they make is saving on fossil fuels and polluting less...the money still spends. And by the way, it's green.

Height of irony that this article is the WSJ too. Fucktards.

She's a pile driver

Oh my. I had no idea that Vince McMahon's wife was one of the Repugnicans up against Chris Dodd's seat in 2010.

This is the silliest country ever on the face of the earth.

America's Teacher

Two of absolute favorite people in one article.

Naomi Klein interviews Michael Moore in this month's edition of The Nation. Great stuff.

Go see the movie next week.

Dancing with the Stars

This video is making the rounds of the tubes. Macy Gray was censored on last evening's DWTS broadcast and according to my lip reading skills, she declared in her post "performance" interview-- "I feel like I fuckin' busted my cherry tonight".

Ha. Good one. Although by the looks of her, one might need a policeman's night stick to "bust her cherry".

Lastly, I'm not entirely sure that this is Macy Gray...seriously, who knew Busta Rhymes looked so fetching in a red ball gown?

Sad, sad day

Jack the dog passed away at noon today.

He was truly a special guy and he will be missed by many. I had never been a dog owner until I met Jack. Georgene and I hit the jackpot in making him a part of our family for the past 16 years.

Goodnight to our sweet, sweet boy.

Sunday Times

Here's an interesting piece from yesterday's paper of record.

While many salient points are made regarding the symbiotic relationship between rap and talk radio, I can't help but be disappointed that the culture of talk radio doesn't share the penchant for intra-squad violence that rap music has shown over the past.

While they're no Biggie vs. Tupac, I wouldn't in the least mind it of Glenn Beck and El Rushbo decided to shoot it out with some modified Glock 9's at some after hours club in lower Manhattan.

Sweet dreams are made of this.

Bright Lights, Big City

The NYT travel section goes west of the Hudson to visit the Cleve. We do dwell in a nicely nuanced and vastly overlooked metropolis, eh?

Personally, I like it like that.

(hat tip to Mr. Janos on this one)

W.Cleon Skousen

Swell, another "W" to hang in the hall of shame. Here's the "baby daddy" of Glenn Beck's fantastic insanity. Read it and weep.

I am so weary of discovering that the background behind these right wing fuckwits such as Beck is chock a block with incidiary lunatics such as this tool.

Nation ruiners and America haters. Every. Last. One.

People Who Died

Huh, just saw this obit in today's online NYT.

If you've never seen Leonardo DeCaprio's portrayal of Jim Carroll in the Basketball Diaries try to find a copy and view it. Leo's pretty friggin good in it and it's a decent portrayal of Carroll's descent into junkiedom.

Puke Green Room

Ha. Love this cartoon.

John Doe and Dave Alvin

Here's a real nice version of a classic X song. Unfortunately, the cut ends abruptly.

That Dave Alvin sure can play, man.

Here's yet another compelling reason to flee the U.S. for higher ground.

And a great resource to help one weigh the options of that decision.

The poodle bites...

...the poodle chews it.

Garrison Keillor weighs in on "the public option" with a canine slant.

Listen, I've said for years that if you were greeted at the doctors office in the same manner as your pets are, (kisses on the head and cooing about their cuteness) a visit to the Dr. or dentist wouldn't be nearly as traumatic. Pet level care for everyone.

C'mon, Frenchy...c'mon.

Jesus Hatch*

This gives new meaning to the apres golf phrase, "the nineteenth hole". Sheesh, when do these two actually ever find the time to fuck?

Oh sorry, that's right, it's the Lord's doing...
