From Dennis Kucinich's suggestion of a Dept. of Peace to Obama's Nobel prize announcement, Peace is back again.
Peace...It's the new black.
Regardless of the noise goons on the right who will be telling us in so many ways in the coming days why Barack Obama doesn't deserve this honor, I give you this from Albert Nobel's will...
"to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses."
By those standards, he's as good a choice as any. Now he just needs to get us out of Iraq and Afghanistan.

It pains me to no end to be watching baseball this evening.
First, there was Cliff Lee and C.C. both leading off the pitching side of things with wins for both the Phillies and Yankees. Now I'm watching Thome, Manny and Casey Blake's Dodgers beat the Mark DeRosa powered Cardinals at Chavez Ravine.
All of these players, save Thome and Manny Rodriguez, were Indians within the past 18 months or so.
Sometimes it's hard to be the minor league club for the big show. I betcha that there is no other MLB club with so many former players in the collective line-ups of the Post Season.
Cleveland is the fluffer of the Major Leagues.

Intrepid youngster, Matt Yglesias, was in Denmark last week and made some notes on bicycling over there. Wow. Personal transportation will never be like that in the U.S.
And yes, I'm saying that it should.

I was watching Letterman last night and he was joking about Sarah Palin's forthcoming "book" while simultaneously plugging Paul Shaffer's soon to be released bio.
Paul Shaffer has probably met everyone in the business of show for the past 40 odd years. If this excerpt is any indication, it would appears to be chock full of funny and poignant stories like this one.
BTW, Bob Dylan is a kook.
