Here's the speech from this morning.

I've been doing research on this stuff for years. Ever since I spent some time in Germany, I have looked at short hop HSR trips as being THE ANSWER to gas prices, plane congestion, cost reduction and efficiency to our regional travel woes.

Here are some web sites that I've become acquainted with over the past few years. Take a look and write a letter or go to a meeting. $8 Billion is a nice start, but this stuff is very expensive and the tea-baggers are certain to fight this at every turn just because it has the patina of "earmarks' and "pork". They're wrong.
